Pura Raza Espanola Information
I am not looking to type lots of information on the Spanish Horse in these pages but what I aim to do is link to sites that I have found useful over the years. Please note that I can not be held responsible for the content of any of the sites I link to. If you notice any broken links please don't hesitate to let me know.
PRE = Pura Raza Espanola or Purebred Spanish Horse. There is no stud book for 'Andalusians' in Spain or the UK as it isn't recognised as a breed in these countries. The purebred Spanish Horse is the P.R.E. Often if a horse is referred to as an Andalusian it is a partbred or non-papered Spanish horse (which cant be classed as a PRE because it isnt registered in the Spanish PRE Studbook). To complicate matters, many British owners/breeders continue to use the term 'Andalusian' because it is often the only name the general public (which includes potential buyers) recognise. All purebreds will be registered in the Stud book which is available online and allows anyone to look up a particular horse by name. http://www.lgancce.com/lgpreancce/asp-publico/arbolGenealogicoPRE/BuscarArbolPRE.aspx?lang=ES 1. Type in a particular horses name in the box labelled 'NOMBRE DEL EJEMPLAR' 2. Type in the authentication code 3. Hit the button labelled 'Buscar' 4. At the bottom of the page will be the list of horses with a similar name. Select the horse you want to look up by clicking on the arrow on the left of the horses name. Josphine has a great site full of information and her description of the PRE vs Andalusian is great http://www.pure-spanish-horse-spain.com/what-is-an-andalusian.html For anyone thinking about a Spanish Horses temperament http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-Oeegngg34 |
